Stone House Gaia

The house is located in the quiet hamlet of Katalinići (Dobroselo), which is part of the Velebit Nature Park and surrounded by the Paklenica National Park. It represents the traditional, rural architectural heritage of the Velebit region. Situated in the hills above Starigrad-Paklenica at an altitude of 294 meters, it offers a peaceful, quiet escape with beautiful views of both the mountains and the sea.

The house is surrounded by the unique rocky karst landscape, green Mediterranean plants, and impressive stone formations of the Velebit mountain.

Please note that the asphalt road leading up to the house is narrow and winding due to the hilly terrain.

The property is conveniently located just a 20-minute drive from the A1 highway.

Garden & Parking

The property is surrounded by a large yard with century-old trees, a lawn and flowers. There is private parking in front of the house, which is well-lit at night.

History & Heritage

The house is built in a traditional style using hand-carved local stone, wood, and brick. Historically, it served as a home for our family (grandparents), complete with a stable for farm animals. Family members used to live in this part of the mountain during the autumn and winter, before moving up to Veliko Rujno for the spring and summer months.

Interiors

The ground floor of the house consists of a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a large bathroom equipped with a spacious walk-in shower, a double sink vanity, and a toilet.

The living room also features 2 comfortable extra sofa beds for 2 guests (140×190 cm).

The first floor features two spacious bedrooms with access to a balcony offering panoramic sea and mountain views in every direction. Each room is beautifully furnished with a comfortable king-size upholstered bed (180×200 cm), a SAT TV, air conditioning, and a designated workspace. There is also a separate toilet on this floor.

The property is ideal for 6 guests (4+2).

Exteriors

Stepping outside, you will find an outdoor dining table on a beautiful covered terrace right beside a covered barbecue area. The yard is enclosed by stone walls with beautiful trees inside. In front of the lower covered terrace, you will find two linden trees, lilacs, and jasmine. The upper level of the yard features oak, fig, almond, maple, and hackberry trees, alongside Mediterranean plants such as rosemary, lavender, sage, and oleander.
